Personally, I would rather pay $4000 (doubt they'll ever charge this full price) than be out $2400. IMHO, if you need a credit card to finance this, you should stay away from this until things start shipping. Their patents will be sold off and their debt (US pre-sale people) will be wiped clean. Even if they were just inches away from crossing the finish line. All the preferred share owners will gut the company and the rest of us "investors" will be SOL. If people start pulling their money out, they CAN run out of cash fast (sort of like run on banks). I would actually be more comfortable if they didn't have their money-back guarantee. If they miss another deadline, people will start pulling their money out. In that regard, we are not just customers but investors. They are being funded in part by our "pre-sale" money. If you're ordering a new version of XBOX from Microsoft, you can call it a pre-sale. I've heard over and over that this is a "pre-sale." I think that in of itself is a misnomer.

Since they're currently allowing hassle free refund on all your money, only true decision is whether or not you want to keep your place in line. Do a Google search for "Glowforge shipping December" and you'll see how that topic was beat to death in the forums.

They chose the absolute worst software possible for their community. Now, I don't make it a habit of pre-ordering something then checking every since nook and crevice of the website on a daily basis for changes. In fact, nearly a month before they were truly clarified. I placed the order before things were clarified. I think you're making assumptions here that you probably shouldn't.
